Dogs on Cable Beach

General Regulations

The Shire of Broome has established regulations to manage dogs on Cable Beach effectively:

1. Leash Zones: Dogs must always be on a leash in designated areas, including around the beach access points and near residential areas.

2. Off-Leash Areas: Certain sections of Cable Beach allow dogs to be off-leash, provided they are under effective control. Owners must always be able to recall their dogs and ensure they do not disturb other beachgoers or wildlife.

3. Prohibited Areas: There are specific zones on Cable Beach where dogs are not permitted, particularly near tourist hotspots or conservation areas to protect native wildlife.

4. Cleaning Up: Dog owners are required to clean up after their pets. Failure to do so can result in fines. Waste bins are provided at various points along the beach.

5. Wildlife Protection: Cable Beach is home to a variety of native wildlife, including migratory birds and marine life. There are also Camel trains with passengers onboard. Dog owners should be vigilant to ensure their pets do not chase or disturb camels, wildlife, particularly in conservation areas.
